Local News Reports Serious Neglect Case

On August 11, WSB-TV and Fox 5 reported on a Lawrenceville couple arrested on 14 counts of alleged animal cruelty after more than a dozen starving animals were found at their home. All of the animals were infested with parasites and dangerously underweight.

Luckily, Atlanta Pet Rescue & Adoption was able to step in and rescue three of the animals that had lived in such horrific conditions. Whitney, Milton and Andy  (shown left) are all resting comfortably and eating well at APRA’s midtown shelter. All three dogs are very friendly and outgoing and they seem quite pleased at their dramatic change in circumstance!

Unfortunately, all three dogs are emaciated and anemic due to severe intestinal parasite infestations. The poor body condition and anemia have weakened the dogs’ immune systems and for that reason, they are listed in guarded condition.
