APRA’s Cathy Roth, director of development, and Tracy Grimm, adoption counselor and Paws in the Park committee member, spoke with 97.1 The River’s Kori Frederick about what makes APRA a different kind of shelter and how Paws in the Park is a celebration of pet ownership, not to mention our biggest fundraiser ever.
The 30-minute segment serves as a great introduction to the shelter and its programs, including what we hope will become an annual fundraising event with an emphasis on active, healthy lifestyles for humans and their pets.
If you or anyone you know would like to learn more about APRA, this is a great tool to get them up to speed and involved! And as Tracy points out, APRA is not a sad place. Of course, some of the animals we rescue have suffered terrible abuse and neglect, but APRA is the place where they’re transformed into the pets they were meant to be.
In fact, 75 percent of the dogs in APRA’s care are adopted in less than 30 days. That’s because of the basic care and medical attention they receive in addition to enrichment and training. Everything we do is to help our animals succeed in finding their forever homes.
And with 100 percent of all proceeds from Paws in the Park benefitting the animals of APRA, we can ensure more dogs and cats get a second chance.
