In addition to serving as Atlanta Pet Rescue & Adoption’s (APRA) primary fundraiser for 2011, we intend for Paws in the Park to highlight the importance of active, healthy lifestyles for humans and their pets. So imagine our delight when The Coca-Cola Company decided to serve as the event’s presenting sponsor.
As a company, Coca-Cola cares about people’s well-being and wants to make a positive difference in their lives, both physically and emotionally. That’s why they sponsor programs that encourage active, healthy living all over the world. We are thrilled that the company decided to support Paws in the Park Atlanta!
“One of the simplest and most uplifting ways to enjoy some active family fun is by hanging out with the four-legged members of your family,” said Stuart Kronauge, Vice President, Coca-Cola Trademark Brands, Coca-Cola North America. “Coca-Cola invites people to bring their pets down to Centennial Olympic Park, get active and have fun enjoying the many events that are part of Paws in the Park.”
Now, we’re not saying that you should adopt a pet to become your exercise coach, but we can guarantee that you’ll feel a lot better both physically and emotionally if you do. A recent study using data from the Michigan Department of Community Health shows that “owning and walking a dog has a measurable impact” on physical activity. One of the study’s authors also pointed out that “the social aspects of owning a dog as well as human-animal bonding has been shown to have a positive impact on quality of life.”
Thank you Coca-Cola for helping us promote the benefits of pet ownership and active, healthy lifestyles.
