Sparky Update
|
|
Sparky is doing fabulously. His great personality is starting to shine through now that he is healing and feeling better. He has overcome his fear of cars, and jumps right into his foster mom's vehicle with anticipation of a fun trip. He loves going to see his best buddies at Paces Ferry Vet Clinic. As a matter of fact, he is starting to expect super star treatment everywhere he goes!
Sparky still has a large wound on his thigh, which is healing well, but the enormous size of the wound requires a longer healing period. His vets think he will not need skin grafts after all. His nails have grown back on all four paws, and he now has fur on all four legs. He will be so happy to one day get that annoying cone off, and be able to run and play with his friends. It shouldn't be much longer now!
Keep watching the web site for more updates and photos on Sparky's recovery.

Justine
I am a pretty six-month-old Tortie who has been with Atlanta Pet Rescue since I was a kitten. My sister Ruthie and I came from a feral cat colony on Bennett Street where concerned business owners have taken care of the colony for several years.
I am still shy, but I am also extremely sweet. Ruthie and I spent our first few months in a foster home with other cats and learned that human beings are OK, but other cats are better. So we bonded with the other cats and not with our human caregivers. Now we’re trying to learn that life in a home with caring, loving humans can be a good thing. Ruthie already found her forever home and is doing very well. Her mom says Ruthie has made great progress and is purring and showing affection. I think I can do that too. I am just a little unsure about human contact, but I love cat treats and will allow you to pet me while I am enjoying my treats. I meow when I see the treat package! My coat is beautiful and very soft. My friends at Atlanta Pet Rescue tell me that I am a little treasure waiting to be discovered! I am available for adoption on Saturdays.
Come meet me at or see me online at: www.atlantapetrescue.org. Atlanta Pet Rescue is open for adoptions Tuesday – Friday 11am-3pm and Saturday 1pm-4pm. For more information about Atlanta Pet Rescue or how to adopt Justine or any of our 80+ dogs or cats, visit our web site.
Update: Justine is now in a foster home where she will be the only cat and will receive some intensive love and affection. She is extremely sweet, but she’s still shy around people and prefers cats as company. We decided she needs a little “cat whispering” so stay tuned for reports from her foster home!

Ginger (formerly Tootsie)
Hey there!
Sorry that it's taken so long to share pictures and an update on Ginger - or as y'all had named her "Tootsie" - time has just flown by!
When we brought her home, we introduced her to our Bluepoint Siamese, and although Hobbes was a little disgruntled at the time, they have since become best buddies. It took about a week for us (Hobbes included) to get used to the snorting, grunting, and crazy-weird-sounding yawns/horse-hacks that she makes in the middle of the night, but otherwise she's settled in perfectly!
Her loyalty and instant bond with us was surprising and remarkable. She doesn't let us out of her sight! (Which has also made us more curious about her past.)
I take her to a neighborhood field everyday, where I run with her to give us both some exercise, we're tyring to teach her to fetch in the backyard, where she also loves to chase the occasional rabbit and chipmunk that pop up.
You were certainly right about her being a 'proud pooper' as we call her - when she kicks up dirt afterwards and then takes off!
She is SUCH a good girl! We really couldn't have asked for a better companion! We all (including Hobbes) cuddle on the sofa in the evenings while watching tv, and although she digs the occasional Greenie, she loooooves the PB-filled Kong!
She's gotten used to her name already and comes when we call her! Next on the list... shake a paw!
One of the BEST things Micah and I look forward to, when coming home now is indeed the wiggly booty happiness!
Thanks for all your help at Atlanta Pet Rescue.
Warm regards,
Sabrina B. |

Lindy has also been voted
Best Dresser
of the APR family!

Lindy Wright
Lindy has been an intregal part of the Atlanta Pet Rescue family for over six years. She volunteers at Saturday adoptions working at the contract table, and raises much-needed funds for the shelter, all why managing her own full-time antique business!
Lindy founded the upscale antiques-and-more sale called "Wags to Riches" over five years ago. Each year the the three-day sale is more and more successful, and this year it raised over $37,000 for our no-kill shelter!
Everyone works hard to make the sale a success, but Lindy oversees the entire sale, and uses her personal and business contacts to get the fabulous donations that the sale has become famous for.
If you see Lindy, please thank her for her years of hard work and devotion to our cause!
We love you Lindy! (even if you are a Virgo...)
