Heather is in a foster home during the week and is available for adoption on Saturdays.

If you are interested in adopting her please see our “How to Adopt” section and come in to meet her on Saturday.

Heather is one of the smartest, ready to learn girls we have met.  Our wonderful neighbors, K-9 Coach, took a few weeks with Heather to get to know her better and taught her some great skills.  She LOVES to use her nose to investigate, this girl is always ready to sniff!  K-9 Coach and our training team and her foster family have been working with her on nose work. There are various different types of nose work, but for Heather this is where we have her use her sense of smell to find treats we hide in boxes.  This gets her to use that brilliant brain of hers while having a great time.  She also loves to push balls that give her treats and will un-roll a towel that has treats hidden in them.

Heather didn't have a great life before she came to us.  We believe she was put into a crate and spent very long hours in there.  She has come a long way with her crate training, but still has a little bit to go.  Her foster mom reports that while she has had a few accidents, she is really starting to get the hang of potty training.  Positive reinforcement and treats are definitely helping her learn her house training.

Heather's foster mom says she is a very smart, playful little girl who loves to fetch, take long walks, ride in the car and cuddle in your lap. She loves doggie treats and has quickly learned the commands SIT, STAY (open hand in front of her face), LAY DOWN (hand pointed to ground), GO TO YOUR CAGE (finger pointed into her cage), to earn her goodies.  Sometimes Heather acts like she has springs in her legs and likes to jump up when excited, but her foster family always make a point of having her sit (rather than jump  up for attention) while  they put on her leash, and tell her to STAY before they open the door to go outside.   She gets so excited at the idea of a nice walk and is learning to control her impulses, just like any young child!'

Heather is a special girl who deserves a special home.  She is an active girl who will need a compassionate, mentally stimulating and patient home.  If you can provide that for her, come meet her, she needs you!
