Skippy is in a foster home and available for adoption on Saturday.

Skippy is a handsome, well-behaved and sweet fella.  He is initially a bit shy and taking his time adjusting to our facility and his new friends.  Once you spend a few moments with him he is much eager for more attention.  Skippy has been gentle and is learning to let his guard down and be more confident.   He and a dog pal were found at a rural cemetery, and no owner was ever found.  We suspect he may have been left there intentionally.

Skippy would love to go to a quiet forever home without small children where he can build his confidence.

What my foster family says about me:

4/6/12:  Skippy is emerging from his shyness as a warm, loving affectionate dog. He is enthusiastic and joyful, turning in tight little circles when he gets excited, which happens when he knows he is going to go for a walk, get fed, get a treat, get let out in the back yard, etc. He loves racing around in our back yard. He loves Zukes salmon dog treats.

Skippy is an easy dog to have around. He really wants to please his humans and to be close to them. One of the things that is hard to describe about Skippy is how soft he is. Picking Skippy up is like putting your hands into a big bunch of cotton. I love to pick him up to hold him on my lap.

Skippy is going to make a great pet!

Update 5/6/12:  Skippy has made great strides in learning to trust humans since we have had him. He's a great companion and a great little dog. He looks like he is perpetually smiling. He has the cutest little head tilt, and when he gets excited he turns in tight circles that we call whirling dervishes. He's learned all our routines. Gets very excited when it is time to go for a walk or when it is "treat time." Loves to snuggle and would love to have the undivided attention of his very own human(s).
