Skylar is in a foster home and available for adoption on Saturday and Sunday.
This spunky terrier has the most expressive ears, nub tail and cutest under-bite. When she shows her curiosity or hears a noise she will turn her head to the side and perk up her ears. She looks like she may be part Jack Russell Terrier, which would make sense, since Skylar has been quite the bundle of energy. She enjoys playing with other dogs and loves to play fetch. She runs and brings it back every time.
Sweet Skylar came to us from a rural animal control facility . Apparently, she did not get her monthly dose of heartworm prevention and was treated over a month ago. She is now released from her restricted activity and can play and run as much as she wants. All she needs is a forever home where she can romp around forever.
What my foster mom says about me:
2/1/12: Skylar is a sweet girl with a little spunk and a whole lot of energy. She loves to go for walks and run around in the dog park. Skylar likes to have lots of toys around to keep her busy. Her favorite game to play with her human friends is fetch, which she is quite good at. Skylar has also figured out how to play fetch on her own. She is always tossing her toys around then running after them. Skylar also has epic battles against her tail, which she always catches and then rolls around with while still holding on. Being that her tail is only about an inch or so long, it is pretty entertaining and impressive to watch.
Don’t let her energy fool you; Skylar also really enjoys cuddling with her person for a good snooze after a play session. Although she is almost on the verge of being too big to be a lap dog, Skylar does not let that stop her from settling in on someone’s lap.
Skylar has been a dream foster and seems to live by the motto ‘great things come to those who wait’. She is very patient and sits very politely while waiting for her well-deserved attention and play time. Skylar is completely housebroken (no accidents yet!) and does well when left alone as long as she plenty of toys to keep her busy. At night, she sleeps in her crate and does not make a sound.
With all of her energy, Skylar would love to go to a forever home where she can go on numerous walks and/or with a fenced in backyard so she can have lots of supervised outdoor play time. Overall, Skylar is great dog. She is patiently waiting to find her forever home and can’t wait to meet her new human companions. Come visit Skylar on Saturday to see if she is the dog for you!
2/22/12: Skylar is continuing to be a wonderful foster dog and house guest. She is definitely 100% house broken, and she is well behaved when left alone. Skylar is very content with one long daily walk (in addition to short potty walks) and indoor play time. Her favorite toys are stuffed animals. (Although, they do not always stayed stuffed very long.) Skylar sleeps with a stuffed animal in her crate every night. The more time I spend with Skylar, the more her sweet side comes out. She enjoys cuddling and just being near her person. Skylar's ears are very expressive. Her white ear is always standing straight up, listening to her surroundings. Her black ear does seem to be able to stand straight up, so the tip is always flopping down.
Skylar enjoys meeting new people and hasn't met a person who is a stranger. While walking, she often gets compliments from those passing by, who will usually also stop to pet her. She is extremely smart, and with some patience (from both parties), I know she could very easily be trained. She already knows how to "sit" on command. She is a very quick learner. Skylar loves to play with toys, and it is important to have plenty around to keep her busy.
