FrecklesWe had recently moved to the Atlanta area and my son was having a difficult time adjusting to his new surroundings and missing his friends “back home”. Eamon was 7-years old and needed a new friend.

We saw a picture of Freckles on your website and knew immediately we needed to
come introduce ourselves to her.  When my son saw Freckles…it was love at first sight.  Unfortunately another family was ahead of us…and they were very interested in taking Freckles home with them. Eamon was nearly devastated.

I don’t know what it was…but for some reason the people from Atlanta Pet Rescue recognized that Freckles seemed to be a better “fit” with us. Read »

JammerDear Friends at APRA - I want to thank you (especially Simon) for bringing me in out of the cold and rain on Christmas Eve. I have been living in my new home now for 3 ½ months and my family is just crazy about me. I love playing fetch in my backyard, running with my dad, taking walks and snuggling with my mom, and having my dog friends over for lots of play dates. My family tells me how much they love me every day and how blessed they are to have adopted me. My mom was so happy with their experience adopting me that now she volunteers at APRA. She tells me she wants to help the other dogs find the right family just like I did. Thank you for taking such good care of me and for helping me find my new family!

CosineMy name is Cosine. I was adopted on December 18, 2010. I am a very happy lady except when I see other dogs or the next door neighbor. I especially like it when I can sit on warm laundry, straight from the dryer. Everyone loves to play and wrestle with me. I like to play tug of war with my frisbee or my big bone. It is a lot of fun to invite another person to play, especially when that person is asleep and I hit them with the frisbee or bone. I especially love to challenge someone to a race up the stairs. I usually choose a person who is carrying a lot of laundry.  I have a lot of fun.

Thank you, APRA. ~  Love, Cosine.

RainWe adopted Rain (now Cassie on left in photo), a couple weeks ago. She is doing great adjusting to life at home; sleeping in bed, going on morning walks, and getting lots of attention! She is doing great with our 11 year old Sheltie mix, Lucy (formerly Lady on right in photo), who is also an APRA alum from 2002, and Cassie is very respectful of our 16 year old dog, Sadie. Rain is learning to become more “civilized,” but all and all she is a great dog.

As a volunteer, Rain had been my favorite since November when she came in from an animal control in bad shape. It is unfortunate that she was at the shelter for so long, but they did a great job of getting her healthy. Now, she has a great home where Read »

Amie & PetuniaI adopted Arnie & Petunia from APR 6 yrs ago. They had been at the shelter for months but would hide in the corner together and were terrified of people. I was working at Barking Hound which was next door so I would see them daily and decided to foster them. When we got home they ran under the bed and stayed all night. When  I would take them in for Saturday Adoption I had to move the furniture around so I could catch them. They trusted no one including me. Finally one day I was laying on the sofa sleeping and Arnie came down and jumped up on the sofa next to me and laid there like everything was OK. ~ Julie

After this I knew they couldn’t go back to the shelter. They are still Read »

I adopted Charlie Brown about 3 months ago and I had no idea how much in love I would truly be with him. He is such a bright spot in my life and I would do anything to ensure his health and happiness. I am so glad I rescued him and I cringe when I think of his terrible past. I am so grateful I had the opportunity to rescue him and give him the love, attention and treatment he deserves. He has been very easy to train and loves people and cuddling! I can’t imagine my life without Charlie Brown! ~ Karen S.

Hodges2Hi APRA – I adopted “Daffy” 3/17/13 and renamed him Hodges due to his hodge-podgesness of breeds. This photo of him is his “guilty as charged” look.

I love my Hodges. He has brought so much happiness into my life. Thank you
for rescuing him!  ~ Nanette H.

RockyWe adopted Rocky back in October and our family feels complete. He has great manners and loves to cuddle. My husband was a little skeptical about him at first, but now he is truly in love with this dog. He is definitely our little buddy.

Thanks Atlanta Pet Rescue for rescuing the best dog I’ve ever had! ~ Jerra
