I adopted Frank (fka Luka) on December 14th and I could not have gotten luckier! I knew after spending 3 minutes with him that he was going to go home with me THAT day! I could not let anyone else have him! Everyone who meets him asks me if they can have him because he is so sweet and loving. It’s just Frank and I at home and we spend out days cuddling on the couch or taking walks around the neighborhood. He doesn’t take much interest in playing however, he is happy as a clam if Read »

Hi! It has been 2.5 years since we adopted Peaches (a.k.a Fern). We thank you for taking care of her before she came into our lives. She is the most loving and cuddliest dog my husband and I ever met. She befriends anyone she meets and plays well with kids! We now live in Chicago so it has been hard for her to adjust to city life. Luckily, we found a friendly dog beach that has become her favorite hangout! We are so thankful to have her in our lives. She brings us so much happiness!

Hello, all at APRA!
I have been meaning to update you on Sprout’s life at home for a while now, but it’s been quite the adventure, so very busy!
I adopted Sprout in August 2013. Before enjoying the dog parks and some dog-friendly patios around Atlanta, Sprout and I made a big cross-country trip to my home state, California. While the car ride wasn’t the most fun, Sprout is a great traveler and an even better travel companion!
Here in California, Sprout gets his fix of doggy playtime with his three uncles (my mom’s dogs), Prince, Moose, and Pretzel. He also enjoys the warm California-in-December weather–he is not a fan of the cold! I couldn’t be happier with the decision I made to bring Sprout home. Thank you!

Windell, now Cooper, is and has been since the first day we adopted him a member of the family. He is very loving and has very good manners. The first picture shows him waiting for me come home from an errand and the second shows how sweet he is!
The staff was great, answered all our questions, and had good records for us to take to the vets. We couldn’t be happier with our Cooper.
Thanks so much, Euel & Janet
We adopted Olive (formerly Vixen) in November 2010 and recently celebrated her third “Gotcha Day.” Our third year together featured a cross-country move from Atlanta to Seattle. Olive was a trooper throughout the cross-country drive, and she’s loving the cooler weather and abundance of dog-friendly restaurants in Seattle. However, we dearly miss our friends with the APRA Pet Pals program, where we volunteered for two years. We’re looking to get involved with pet therapy out here in Seattle so that Olive can continue to brighten people’s days with her goofy underbite smile. Thanks so much for rescuing Olive and for all the wonderful work you continue to do.

We adopted Darcy in August and she has become such a wonderful part of our family! She is spoiled rotten and we couldn’t love her more. She is so well behaved and everyone that meets her wants to take her home! She loves her rides in the car, hiking at Kennesaw Mountain, eating a little peanut butter and cheese every now and then and especially loves sleeping on her back in mommy and daddy’s bed. She honestly is the sweetest, happiest dog we have ever had. She rarely has accidents in the house and only jumps up on the furniture when she’s invited to. She will sit in your lap all day if you don’t get up!
She was the only dog in a cage when we came to APR because she Read »
Hi! Just wanted to share a couple of photos to let you know that Hallie (formerly known as Calloway) is enjoying her new home. We adopted her on June 21st and she’s a great dog. She and Patsy (the dog we already had) have become good buddies – we’re really glad she joined our family!
Quick update, Karma is so fantastic, she has added more Love and happiness than words can express.
My wife and I wanted to say thanks for sharing with us the most loyal, noble and humble friend we have ever known, Alexander the Great Dane. We adopted Alexander from you all in July 2010 and it was one of the best things that we have ever done as a family.
Unfortunately, Alex died last week after complications from a surgery to fix a “twisted stomach”. His death was sooner than we were ready, but we take comfort knowing that we did everything we could to save him and that he died feeling very loved.
Thankyou again for sharing Alex with us.
PS. If you don’t remember Alex, he is the great dane in this commercial: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xAKSX4YgSEA
