We are so lucky that Ellie came into our lives in November!  She has such spunk and energy that she lights up the room and makes both her “Dad’s” smile all the time….

We thought our house was filled with laughter and love but after Ellie became part
of our family we now know we were wrong and we have an abundance of both making
us feel very fortunate and blessed.

She loves her 2+ times each day she walks/jogs the neighborhood as well as her daily backyard games!  She loves to play tug of war and is a major tennis ball (or any ball) enthusiast and we are working on some major tricks so she can show off her skills. She has an abundance of energy and when she finally wants to rest Read More...

I just wanted to give you an update on Mocha.  We couldn’t have picked a better cat.  She soooo sweet!  She loves to sleep with either me or my husband every night.  Myles loves her.  She tolerates Myles and has never raised a paw or bitten him even when he likes to bug her while she’s resting.  Now, since she’s been with us she’s put on quite a bit of weight to the point that I’ve started feeding her light food.  But we love her to death and are so glad she’s apart of our family.  Our weekly visits paid off because we truly got the right cat for us!  I added a couple of pics.  Lemme tell you when that little photo session was over she took that hat and scarf off in like 2.2 seconds lol!

Happy New Year!

SigmundWhen my maltese Marley (an APRA alum) passed away this summer, I was devastated. Luckily, I had already been volunteering for APRA for a few months, and my shelter shifts definitely helped me get my “dog fix” until I was ready to adopt again. Sigmund showed up in the shelter in September, and I fell in love. The day he became available, I showed up bright and early to bring him home.
Because he came from a puppy mill, Sigmund was very timid and overwhelmed. But this little pup quickly adapted to life as a pet. He is now an outgoing, silly, happy boy. I truly believe we rescued each other. I can’t thank APRA enough for helping me find 2 amazing animals! ~Amanda K.

Cooper (formerly Kobe)Hello APRA, thought we’d drop a late update and share our story here. Cooper has been everything we wanted and more! He is spoiled to death. He follows us everywhere we go, loves car rides. He was potty trained within a week. Apparently, he already knew how to lay down and sit. He’s a ball of energy, always wanting to play. He’s quite the chewer, chewing literally through every toy we buy him. He loves brushing his teeth too, (well not really, but loves the toothpaste). He has been a real treat to come home to everyday and to sleep with at night (snuggling right next to us).   Thank you for letting us find Cooper!

Our Little BearWe adopted our “little bear” (formerly “Bosco”) from Atlanta Pet Rescue in June 2012, when he was about 4 months old, and it has been the greatest experience! He is a chocolate-colored, Lab/Doberman mix, and he has been the most amazing joy to have in our family! He has been really easy to train, and he was already crate-trained when he came home with us. He is a constant source of love, affection, and playfulness. He has such a sweet little spirit, and is always ready for a walk in Piedmont Park, or some serious playtime in the dog park. His temperament is wonderful, and he wants nothing more than to spend time with us, get a belly scratch, play and eat. We really couldn’t have asked for a better adoption experience, and we’re thrilled to come home to “Bear” every day. Thanks to everyone at Atlanta Pet Rescue for Read More...

NewtonI want to thank everyone at APRA for all you do to help all the homeless animals in the area. I had looked at your website for several months and knew I would adopt there when the time was right. My sweet boy Jake passed away this past summer and my other dog Callie was very lonesome. I wanted a Shihtzu and when the one I wanted was available, Callie and I headed down to APRA. Well, the dog had been adopted already and I was looking at the other dogs. One seemed to be following me up and down the fence. When another dog didn’t seemed to like Callie, Newton was still there trying to get my attention. The moment he met me and Callie it was love. He really picked us out I feel and I couldn’t be happier!! He loves to play with Callie and she is so much happier now. Newton has fit into our home perfectly! Thank you again for all Read More...

PebblesJust wanted to thank everyone there. Pebbles has been a great addition to my house. She stays with me 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. When I got her home, and I spent some time with her, I found out she is very house broken, obeys commands and is so loving. She loves to ride and goes every where with me. She even loves to go help me feed my Koi:) I have taken her to my vet for a check up and everything is great. Of course she had to go to the groomers and get a hair do. She is very loving and gentle. Thank you again.

MollyHi Dana & all at Atlanta Pet Rescue,

Thought I would drop you a line to let you know how we’re doing, after two weeks of having Molly join our family.

Molly is doing brilliantly – she’s so adorable. She’s now settled into her routine and is enjoying her morning and evening walks, especially when they involve the route round Stone Mountain or playing with other dogs at Piedmont Park. She’s doing very well with car journeys and is a complete hit with all our friends when they come to visit. She’s even had toys sent to her from our family in England after getting to ‘meet’ her on Skype! We’ve had a couple of little accidents in regard to the house training but its been more about us learning her way of saying ‘please let me out to the garden’. As I sit and write this Read More...

Chloe (formerly Coco)I adopted Chloe (then Coco) on October 15, 2011. I went into APRA intending to adopt another dog and hadn’t even considered Chloe. But a volunteer suggested I meet her and once I held her, I knew she was mine. She basically chose me. She adjusted right away and learned my routine quickly. Now when I come home she’s so excited to see me, she can barely keep her feet on the ground. She protects the house and has to be in whatever room I’m in. I hadn’t planned on finding her, but I’m so happy I did. The dog I went in for was adopted by another family that same day. It was meant to be.
