His best thing to do is to run after squirrels, then we take another long walk after dinner as a family.

He is very obedient, loves a bath, loves to snuggle, and loves to give kisses. We couldn’t have gotten a better dog. He has been a pure joy to have in our home. We are looking forward to a long life with Stanley as we watch our children and Stanley grow! By the way, we kept his name because he looked like a Stanley. ~ Cathy E.

P.S. In this photo, our son was sick and stayed on the couch all day and Stanley was right by his side all day .

After several visits and meeting several dogs, I came upon a tiny, reserved Chihuahua that would change my household forever. I brought her home and our story began.

We had a few bumps in the beginning – not even 2 weeks after bringing Lola home, the lymph nodes in her tiny neck began to swell. The vet thought she might have cancer. I was devastated, but thankfully, it ended up just being a very bad infection. And once my baby girl was all better, her true personality come out! Lola has completely taken over my house with her spunk and tiny bark (which always makes people in the neighborhood laugh during our walks)! She respects Oliver, but she certainly isn’t afraid to tell him how she feels! Occasionally I’ll see a black and white streak followed by a smaller black and brown streak race past me as she chases him throughout my apartment. It seems she can’t get enough of him, as evidenced by the pictures. Because Oliver was so used to being “the only child,” it took him a while to accept that Lola was here to stay, but he has never once shown any signs of aggression toward her and doesn’t mind allowing his “baby sister” to lay on him (which she does often).

I didn’t think I could ever love a dog as much as I love Oliver, but I can no longer see my life without Lola either. She’s a perfect fit and I hope she’s as happy with me as I am with her. Thank you so much, APRA, for this addition to my family. ~ Courtney G.

Her first day was quite memorable since she was unsure of the couch and had to be coaxed to jump on it. I’m happy to say the couch is now one of her favorite spots to cuddle and take a nap. In the short time she’s been here she has learned sit, down, hand shake, speak and play dead. She loves going to the nearby dog parks and often gives the bigger dogs a run for their money. Our daily walks have quickly become my favorite part of the day, and since she is still a puppy it’s fun to watch her discover/investigate new things. Also to my surprise she is an avid bird watcher and can sit for hours watching the sky.

I could not have asked for a better or cuter companion! Thanks to all at APRA! ~ Dee S.

When we first got him he was a little scrawny and under the weather but he bounced back pretty fast and has been healthy ever since. He loves the outdoors and would stay on the porch all day long if we would let him. He gets along well with our other dog, too. Much to our surprise he had been housetrained but we did take him to a refresher obedience class. He is very smart and a fast learner, but like all Westies he is stubborn!

I am happy to report that Max has completely come out of his shell. He walks on
a leash, has a healthy appetite, and is a cuddle monster! He likes hiding his new toys around my home, but his favorite thing to do is snuggle. He regularly runs from my bedroom into the living room, jumps onto the couch, and immediately flips over for a belly rub. Sometimes he wags his tail so feverishly, I think he’s going to dislocate a hip!

I am so lucky to have found such a wonderful companion. We walk together, cuddle together, sleep together (yeah I broke my own rule on that pretty quickly), and even shop together!

Thank you for all that you do to find great pets good homes. I am so lucky to
have found the pet of my dreams- Max is a perfect match for me. ~ Jennifer I.

He took to us and the house pretty fast. It was about 2 hours after we got him home that he seemed to have the “Yep I own this place” attitude.

As we just moved into this house right before we got him he has been enjoying the environment of boxes being perpetually emptied as it gives him a lot of things to play with. We discovered his love for fake mouse toys which will make him go bananas for hours on his own until he wears himself out. He is very disciplined and food motivated so Amy already taught him to sit before he gets a treat.

The other day he forced his way into the fireplace and had soot all over him. He of course pretended like nothing happened but we ended up giving him a bath. He took it in stride and we managed to finish the process unscathed which is pretty impressive for a cat! Now we need to get a better gate to cover it up!

As of now he definitely seems to be my cat more than Amy’s. He likes her just fine but he goes out of his way to climb up and snuggle with me whenever he gets a chance. I’m pretty sure he likes facial hair/stubble.

Awesome cat from an awesome place. Thanks for what you guys do and for helping us get a companion to help keep us entertained daily! ~ Alan

He is so full of life and funny to watch! He loves to bask in the sun and run around in his (newly) fenced yard. He has been such a joy and a wonderful addition to our family… He is already spoiled rotten and has more bones than he knows what to do with. Thank you again for all you do to rescue these pets and find them good homes. I recommend you to anyone I know looking for a new pet.

We will soon be looking for a brother or sister for Gus !
