The Atlanta Pet Rescue volunteer mesage board is for all Atlanta Pet Rescue volunteers, foster homes, staff, and supporters that are interested in staying “in the know” about important up-to-date event information and specific needs of our organization. If you have an announcement or request you would like to publish, email us with “message board posting” in the subject line.
Help Wanted
Do you work for Home Depot, UPS, BellSouth, Georgia Pacific, Delta, Southern Co., Newell Rubbermaid, SunTrust or Coca-Cola?
We are currently soliciting corporate sponsorships from the above companies for funding for our new shelter, as well as for upcoming events such as Wags to Riches and Paws for Cocktails. It always helps to know someone on the “inside” who can attest to what our organization does for the community. All you have to do is make a phone call to your community affairs manager and let them know you are a volunteer! We will do all the boring paperwork! Will you help us?

Sue Sternberg Seminar on Sunday, July 19th from 9:30am - 4:30pm at Zoo Atlanta. Tickets will include entry to the zoo and the seminar! This is a one-day seminar with TWO topics covered:
1) An Ethogram of the Shelter Dog — (half day, AM)
This workshop uses extensive video archives of dog behavior footage taken during Assess-A-Pet, and catalogs all the responses and common behavior patterns. This workshop is the basis for anyone who evaluates behavior and temperament in dogs, whether at the shelter or in private training consultations. Behaviors are broken down into small units, and multiple examples of each behavior are given, both in normal speed and in slow motion. Learning to read these subtle and small behaviors are the key to truly understanding and being able to observe dogs.
2) Bite-O-Meter—How to Tell a Dog is Going to Bite You — (half day, PM)
Includes video and/or shelter dog demo. This workshop details all the subtle behaviors of aggression, helping people better read dogs and avoid a bite. Long before a dog growls, snarls or bites, he shows many, many behaviors warning of the aggression.
