Meet sweet Willa, a pretty 8-month-old domestic short hair kitty with a silly kitten personality. She’s mainly white with some touches of brown tabby trim on her head and tail.  Willa and her brother Wembley came to Atlanta Pet Rescue after they’d been snatched from a scary life in the not-so-great outdoors.  Willa has blossomed in her foster home and has proven herself to be the adorably cute, playful little girl we knew she could be.  We don’t blame her for being shy when she comes to the cat room for Saturday’s big, noisy Adoption Day.  Willa and Wembley are often overlooked, but we all know what precious cats they are.  Come meet Willa.  She’s in the cat room every Saturday waiting for her forever home!

Willa is getting over a case of the sniffles and not currently available for adoption.

Foster Update 3/3/10: Hello Humans!  My name is Willa but my foster mom calls me Baby Cat since I am a petite gal.  I hear you might want to adopt me, so let me tell you a little about my favorite activities.  First, I love patrolling the windowsills for any "funny business" happening outside, usually a posse of robins or band of wild children.  Next, I am a very good exterminator. See a spider?  I hunt it. Ants coming in from the cold?  I eat them. No bugs around when I'm in the house. Also, I like to play lifeguard while my foster mom is taking her shower. I sit outside the door and watch for any signs of trouble, ready for cat to mouth resuscitation if necessary. If you get cold at night I am a very good leg warmer. Although sometimes there are big rats under the covers that I must find and chew on (foster mom note: these are actually toes, Willa). Finally, I am very good at helping with the computer by pressing on the proper keys to spell words like "lksdfiouh" and "eewbcjy" or pointing to the mouse on the screen with my paw. I hope you will come to visit me at the shelter on Saturdays.  I probably blend into the corner because I am very shy around other cats. Once you get me at home, though, I love to play with my toys (foster mom note: or fingers!), run around, spy on you from behind the curtains, and get my chin scratched.  See you soon, Human!

YAAAWWWNNNN!!!!!!

Here’s Wembley!  He’s a super-cute orange and white domestic short hair cat.  At only 8 months old, Wem is out of the loony kitten stage and into the loving, playful, funny stage.  (They all grow up so fast!)  Wem spent his babyhood without any human contact.  Like his sister Willa, he’s learned that people can be quite entertaining and kind.  Best of all, people know how to open the treat pouch!  Wembley gets along great with other cats, and now enjoys being held by humans.  He’s really a sweet little guy, and he’d probably love a home with another cat to play with.  Wembley is hanging out in the cat room every day waiting for that special someone to come in and take him home.

Wembley is available for adoption

Tuesday through Saturday and by appointment.

Wembley is sponsored by:

Thank you!

Note from a friend: When Wembley first came to Atlanta Pet Rescue, he hid in the corner and ran at the outstretched hand of a kind human. He didn't know what to make of us. But I am unbelievably amazed at the turn around in this handsome fellow. Now, when you go into the cat room, Mr. Wembley is one of the first ones to greet you. He enjoys chin scratches and back rubs ... and play times with his friends Marley and Mia. It just astounds me the resilience of animals -- Wembley is the perfect example of an animal giving the world a second chance to be good. Now all he needs is his forever home. I'm sure he'd love a feline friend to pal around with ... and of course, a gentle human touch to melt into. Are you looking for a faithful, furry friend? Wembley would love to meet you!

Coco Chanel is a beauty!  Maybe she couldn’t design her way out of a paper bag, but she knows her way around a catwalk!  Coco Chanel is a domestic short hair with pretty brown and black tabby stripes.  Her eyes are her best feature.  They’re pale green and quite mesmerizing!  At six years of age, this sweet, calm cat was bundled up and brought to Atlanta Pet Rescue because her owner decided to have a baby.  We think Coco deserves a new home with someone who will treasure her for the perfect gift she is.  Coco Chanel wants to be an only cat, and she promises to return affection with affection and a little wardrobe advice.

Coco Chanel is currently

available for adoption

by appointment only.

Thank you!

A Note from a Friend: Miss Coco Chanel has really come around. She still would prefer to be an only cat, but she has done well with tolerating all of the shenanigans in the cat room. Her face really lights up when she sees one of her human friends walk through the door. Her favorite place to be is your lap. Whoever is lucky enough to adopt Coco is in for a treat!

Ecco is a strikingly handsome two-year-old cat.  He’s a domestic short hair tabby with very dramatic black and brown stripes.  Ecco was rescued after his owner packed up and moved away without him.

Fortunately, Ecco had kind neighbors who took him in and cared for him until they could bring him to Atlanta Pet Rescue.  Ecco is DECLAWED which made living outdoors even more hazardous than it already is.  But he is safe and sound now, and he’s such a nice, well-mannered cat we can’t understand why he was left behind.

Now Ecco is looking for a home where he’ll be welcome forever. He gets along with the other cats in the cat room, but didn’t seem too crazy about the dog that visited recently.   If you want a good cat, Ecco just might be the one for you!

Ecco is available for adoption

Tuesday through Saturday.

Jackie is a handsome four-year old Maine Coon-Domestic Long Hair mixed kitty. He is a big boy, weighing in at 15 pounds. But don’t let his size fool you, Jackie is a sensitive soul and is having a tough time adjusting to the recent upheaval in his life. Poor Jackie was surrendered by his former owner when they fell on tough financial times. He is looking for a new family to help him through this difficult time and provide him with the love and security he desperately needs.

Jackie is a sweet boy who is shy when meeting new people, but warms up once he knows you are his friend. He has lived with another cat and did fine with her. Whoever gives this gentle boy a second chance is sure to be rewarded by a lifetime of devotion from Jackie.

A note from a friend: Jackie had a nickname in his former home.  He was called Little Man.  When I pet Jackie, I call him Little Man to try to remind him of his happier times.  Jackie is a sad kitty, no doubt about it.  He spends his days sleeping high up on the cat walk in the cat room.  But Jackie welcomes kind words softly spoken and gentle strokes on his head.  He’ll even arch his back into your hand when he’s petted.  And he adores treats!

We have a tall step stool handy for easy access to Jackie.  If you come to meet this sweet boy, we’ll provide the step stool.  All you need to provide is affection and an open heart willing to give this Little Man a chance.

Jackie is available for adoption

Tuesday through Saturday.

Shiloh is a chubby three and a half year old Calico kitty who came to us by way of another rescue where she had been waiting for a purrrfect home for too long. Sadly, her former rescue operated from a pet supply store once a week, and Shiloh had to be put in a cage there, all the while being terrified by all the barking dogs. As a result, poor Shiloh was overlooked for far too long.

We thought that a change of environment would do Shiloh a world of good, and hopefully lead to a permanent home to call her own. She has a friendly and outgoing personality and should make a wonderful feline companion for most any home. Shiloh is a chunky gal, and needs a home with a treadmill.

Shiloh is available for adoption

Gacy is a very friendly and outgoing girl. She loves to nuzzle and has rabbity-soft fur. Gacy promises to be a wonderful feline companion for most any home.

Here’s pretty Tiger!  She’s Flame Point Siamese mix and she’s only a year old.  Tiger came to Atlanta Pet Rescue from an outlying animal control facility.  She had little chance of adoption there, and we wanted to give this beautiful girl a better chance of finding a good home.

Tiger is a bit shy, but once she is in your arms, she purrs and purrs.  We have no way of knowing what kind of home she had before she ended up at animal control.  What we know now is that Tiger is worthy of a good home with kind people who will take care of her.  Tiger is a lovely cat waiting to shine brightly.

Tiger is feeling under the weather and not available for adoption.

Nippy was adopted 3/12/10.

Meet Teddy. He’s Freddy’s brother. Teddy is ten months old, and he’s a solid grey domestic short hair. Teddy could easily be mistaken for a Russian Blue, and since he’s not so sure of his genealogy, we’re not ruling out a Russian Blue gene. (Pardon the pun.)

Teddy is gentle and affectionate. He likes to play and eat treats. Teddy gets along with other cats (especially his cute brother Freddy). By the way, both of these adorable cats were abandoned by their owner. We’ve heard that sad, sad story too many times lately. Teddy promises he’ll be a fabulous pal if you’ll give him a chance in a forever home!

Teddy is available for adoption

during regular adoption hours Tuesday through Saturday and afterhours by appointment.

Meet Freddy, Teddy’s brother. Here’s the basics:  he’s a ten-month-old domestic short hair. Okay, now for the fun part: Freddy is a great looking black and white tuxedo-style charmer. He’s a NOTORIOUS lap cat, an absolutely incorrigible lap cat.  Freddy’s been observed  leaving one lap for another lap.

He is generous with affection and blithely unaware that his previous owner left him and his sweet brother Teddy to fend for themselves. Freddy simply wants a lap to call his own, a home where he can live happily forever and maybe a place for Teddy, too. We don’t think that’s too much to ask for two wonderful youngsters.

Freddy is available for adoption

during regular adoption hours Tuesday through Saturday and after hours by appointment.
