Greyson (formerly Kent)

We adopted Greyson, our 3 year old Shihtzu, in June 2008 from Atlanta Pet Rescue. My fiance and I transferred to Atlanta two years ago and I never understood the purpose of bringing us here until the day we walked into APR and came home with Greyson. I remember visiting APR that day because I saw a female Shihtzu online that I was very interested in adopting. When we arrived we were disappointment to find out that she had already found a new home. I decided to take one last look at the other puppies and that is when I saw Greyson sitting alone in the corner. From the moment we held him....we knew he was the one we were meant to go home with that day.

Greyson is now 14 lbs, is very loving and has a the best personality we could have ever hoped for. He also likes to travel. It has been great to tell our adoption story to others in the hope that more people will consider pet adoption when they see how awesome Greyson is and realize that there are terrific pets just like him waiting for a good home. We really enjoyed working with APR and hope to adopt a sister Shihtzu for Greyson in the future.

Keep up the great work!

Michele and Marc

Lucy (formerly Cassie)

We adopted Lucy, formerly Cassie, a little over a year ago and I can't tell you how much we love this little girl! We had just lost our 14 year old Jack Russell and were very sad.  The house seemed so empty.

My children and I had such a wonderful experience at APR and I can't begin to tell you how sweet and patient our volunteer was. ( I think his name was Douglas.)

We had a short adjustment period when Lucy first came home with us, but then it was as if she had always belonged here. What a great dog! Everyone loves her and she's the only one who can get my 10 year old daughter to smile in the morning before school.

Lucy loves her toys and her two human sisters and we just adore her! I'm so glad you let us give this little baby the life she deserves. She is safe and happy now, thanks to all of you at APR who do such an amazing job finding homes for all your precious animals. We still check your website weekly and get so excited when we see someone got adopted!

Thanks again for everything!

Oliver

Oliver is indeed a dream dog! He has not had one accident, has not made a peep when I've left him  alone and my downstairs neighbors love him.

He's settling in just fine and does great with me at school as well.  Since I sleep on just a mattress on a box spring, he has no problem  getting up there and sleeps all night in the crook of my knees.

Here's a photo of his second day here....sore hip on the waterbed,  head on the comfy bed :)  ...you were right when you said he just  likes to chill !

George (he's not a Scotty!!!)

Joanna was six when she announced that she wanted a dog.

“That’s a great idea,” the parents said. “We’ll go to the Humane Society and pick one out.” The daughter, responding as if we had been speaking Urdu, continued with her announcement: “I want a white Scottish terrier, and I’m going to name her Rose.”

So let it be written; so let it be done.

Thus began our long life’s journey in the company of smart, independent dogs. The Scotty, you see, has many admirable qualities: They are loyal to their family, bark only when necessary (usually to warn of the invasion of a UPS courier), and do not shed. Their less than admirable qualities include an unwillingness to respond to requests like “Dammit, Rose, it’s raining. Come here!”

Hoover was added as companion for Rose. He was all Scotty but was from the not-quite-up-to-breed standards set by the AKC. Rose passed on to the eternal sofa by the fire where people wouldn’t give her ridiculous commands, and Molly came in from the sidelines as Scotty #3. When Hoover went on to join Rose so she could continue to dominate him, we planned to get another Scotty.

Not to be.

We made the mistake of stopping by an adoption event sponsored by Atlanta Pet Rescue, and George marketed his way into the family. George is not a Scotty. He is … well … maybe … OK, OK, so his mother slept around. There is Briard there (the ears mainly), and Chow (tongue and tail), and maybe some other breed that sheds a lot. Unfortunately, when God said “brains” George thought She said “stains” and told Her he didn’t want any. George, to put it kindly, has the IQ of an asteroid.

He is lovable and loyal to a fault. He is an excellent watchdog, a good friend, fastidious in his personal habits, polite, and runs into doors. He doesn’t snore, and he chases the hose on the deck while behind the closed windows of the breakfast room. He doesn’t play catch because he is wary of the ball, and he abhors getting his feet wet. Molly, now a grumpy old woman, ignores him.

Molly worries; George takes it as it comes. He doesn’t listen to talk radio, read the newspaper, care who will be the next mayor, or discuss the health-care debate. He has never been to a public hearing or written his Congressman. He does not protest any causes, will not sign petitions, thinks good of everyone until proven wrong, and doesn’t own an iPhone.

George cares about the sunshine on the deck, the activities of the two Westies next door, and whether or not his bowl has food in it. He enjoys the occasional paper towel and has his favorite chair. A ride in the car is nice and being scratched under the chin is a treat. He appreciates the occasional piece of Swiss cheese and knows there will always be someplace to take a nap.

Maybe George came into my life to teach me about priorities. What if there was a “Take Your Master To Work Day?” I’d like to give his routine a shot, and I bet Hallmark would make a fortune.

Nadina (formerly Nadine)

Just wanted to send you an email to thank you for all that you do for homeless pets.

I also wanted to send you a Happy Tail.

Nadina was adopted on April 09 and I have had her for 6 months now. She has been wonderful… SUCH a pleasure to be around. I live alone and she keeps me company and keeps me going.

I was laid off from my job of almost 5 years a month before I got her, so this has been a great time to transition her into my life. She has settled in very well and she brings a smile to my face everyday. She has found her forever home and I would NEVER, no matter what, let her go.

She is fun, smart, spunky, cuddly and lovable; she's everything I have ever wanted in a dog. She has fallen in love with me just as much as I have with her and she is most happy in my lap with her nose in the air. She is happy as can be.

She can sense my emotions and comes running to give me kisses when I get sad or angry. She has bonded with my parents, my brother and people I care about… they find her a pleasure to be around as well.

My family just got back from the beach and it was obvious that Nadina had never been.  She loved it. She tried to drink the salt water but figured out really quick she couldn't. She enjoyed digging in the sand, running in the surf and laying out in the sun.

I have attached some pictures. Hope you enjoy!

-Jennifer C.

Poppy (formerly Buddha)

Just a little update Poppy!   We adopted her on October 3rd. Karen wasn't too sure if we should take her home or not because she was very, very nervous and shy but we felt she belonged with us and so we brought the  little puppy home.

Poppy is just a wonderful little girl and she has settled in so quickly, as you can see from the photo!   We adopted Banjo (formerly Dooley) from Atlanta Pet Rescue in May of this year.  He was only 10 weeks old and weighed 5lbs.  He is now 8 months and weighs 19lbs and he and Poppy are the best of friends.

Adopting Banjo and Poppy has been such a joy for us.  They are both amazing dogs.

Thank you all for your wonderful work.

Linda and John D.

Heidi

Amy and I adopted Heidi earlier this year.  I believe it was in March. She really is doing great and is a wonderful addition to our family.

Thank you so much.

Amy and Eric V.

Norman (formerly Elmo)

I wanted to give you all to give an update on Elmo (new name Norman).  He's doing so great!

He has developed a best friend in my parents' dog Carl.  They love chasing frisbees around the yard together and even sleeping together.

I recently took Norman on a weekend trip up to the mountains and found out that he LOVES the water!  We went down to the lake, and he jumped right in without any hesitation.

He's the sweetest little guy, and his spunky attitude cracks me up on a daily basis.  Thank you so much for helping me find my little partner in crime!

Thanks,

Abigail Q.

Carl and Norman .... buddies!

Max

I wanted to let everyone know that Max is one happy boy!

He loves to run, give kisses, and chew whatever is in his site. The hooves that I  got from your bowl have been a saving grace.

I can't thank you enough  for what you all do. This is the second dog I have adopted from you  (the first lives with my ex) and they are both extremely happy and  well adjusted animals. I couldn't be more pleased to be Max's human.

Thanks,

Shawn

Bonnie (formerly Bethany)

I just wanted to let you know that Bonnie is doing so well & blossoming daily!  She & Sunny play, roll, tumble... it is too cute.  She even went on a  mile walk last Sunday at the Big Creek trail here in Cumming.  Lots of people, kids, dogs & bicycles & she walked with such confidence.  I have taken both of them for walks in the morning the past 2 days & she truly enjoys it.  She is even smiling now.

Thank you so much for the wonderful care you gave her; we are so happy & she completes our family!

Baxter (formerly JoJo)

I thought I'd send you all an update on Baxter. We adopted him May 2008. At first, he was incredibly shy and would not come out from his "safe" places. i.e. under the couch, in the corner of the closet, under the desk, etc. He wouldn't even come out to eat; he'd starve all day and wait until we went to bed.

Now, if I'm on the couch, he lays next to me and makes sure that some portion of his body touches mine. If he's uncomfortable and wants me to move, he paws at me until I move and give him space. He's completely housebroken, walks beautifully on the leash and knows "sit", "down" and "wait".  He eats as soon as I put the food down, loves other dogs, and is even great with little kids.

He's my first dog, and I had no idea such an incredible bond could be formed between a human and a dog. I love him to pieces, (my husband thinks I love Baxter more than him, HA!) and can't imagine life without him. I can't thank you all enough for your work and commitment to giving dogs and cats a second chance at life.

I hope you enjoy these pictures!

Banana (formerly Rachel)

We adopted Banana in January and we absolutely love her! She fit in with our family right away! She and our other dog Peanut love to wrestle, run and play ALL day long.

Peanut's favorite thing to do is fetch the tennis ball, and Banana's favorite thing to do is steal the tennis ball and hide it in a small space that Peanut can't fit in.  They are very funny to watch. Her only strange habit is she loves chewing my hair; she discovered the easiest way was to wait until I sit on the couch and then instantly perches herself behind me and chews away, but usually only does it for a minute and then just wraps around my neck like a fuzzy scarf.  There's no way to get upset with her!

She and Peanut can both tell time; at 5:30pm every day they run back and forth between me and their bowls to make sure I haven't forgotten dinner.

We recently moved to Dallas, Texas and, although we thought it would be hard for her to get used to an apartment after living in a big house, she loves it. We decided it is because we are in a smaller space where she can always easily find us. She's by my side all day, sits on my feet at the computer, and even though she isn't a huge fan of baths herself, she always sleeps against the bath tub while I shower.

She was one of the many dogs rescued from the suspected puppy mill in the Alabama woods, but that doesn't seem to have phased her at all. She's super healthy, happy and as sweet as can be!

She is the perfect addition to our family and we are unbelievably happy to have her! Thank you SO much for everything you do!

Henry

We adopted Henry a few months ago after our dog of 10 years, Doolittle, passed away in May.  Henry helped us get through our grieving process and we hope to continue to repay the favor by giving him all the love and affection we can.  He loves his new home and we love him.

Thank you for all you do.

Sincerely,

Joanne DelGiorno B.

Gypsy (formerly Phoebe)

It's been a few months since Gypsy has joined our family. What a lucky family we are! My other dog, Kai, is very grateful to have her there with him to play.

Gypsy is an absolute sweetheart. She loves walks and "herding" Kai when he chases after the ball. She loves to roll on her back and let you rub her belly and she squints her eyes tightly when you go to kiss her little nose. Cutest girl ever!

I am so happy with Miss Gypsy; I couldn't have asked for a better rescue!

Lauren V.

Joey

It's been one year since Joey became part of my family....a wonderful year too!!

He is as happy and energetic as ever.  Yes, his neck is still a bit sensative but nothing that keeps us from long walks and having fun outdoors.

Thank you for such a wonderful dog!!!

Sincerely,

Darlene and Joey

Chloe (aka L'Oreal)

I wanted to give you an update on L'oreal, whom I adopted in June.  I have named her Chloe and she is doing so well!   We all love her so much!  She has gained weight and the vet says she is doing great!

Thank you so much for this wonderful addition to our home!

Cindy H.

Harley

I’ve had quite a journey in my two short years; however, I have finally found my forever home.

As a 1 year old pup, I was dumped at animal control.  APR saved me and I was adopted by a family with kids.  After 7 months, they brought me back to APR, but I’m not able to tell Mommy what I did wrong.

Mommy volunteers at the shelter and watched me play for a couple of weeks.  She said she had to make sure I was the right fit for Pebbles – my diva sister.  Mommy brought me home for a sleepover one Friday night and I got to sleep in the big bed with Mommy, Daddy, and Pebbles.

Then Mommy had to bring me in for adoptions on Saturday.  I could tell it made her sad to see other people looking at me.  I was so glad that Saturday was over so I could go home.  I already knew I had found my forever home.

It’s been over a year now and I’m the happiest boy ever.  I go for walks with Mommy every morning and then Mommy and Daddy play with me after work.  Pebbles plays with me sometimes, but not like I’d like her to.  My Gran brings Tater [APR alum f/k/a Duke the Chihuahua] over and we run around the house and yard after each other and wrestle.  Pebbles looks at us like we’re silly!

Thanks so much for saving me not once, but twice, so I could find my truly forever home!  Mommy attached a picture of Pebbles and me resting after Daddy’s tennis practice and another of us patiently waiting to share yogurt with Daddy – I’m on the left.  We look like we have devil-dog eyes because Mommy used her Blackberry to take the pictures!

Love always,

Harley

p.s. Mommy and Gran have been volunteering at the shelter for almost 2 years now and they love it.  Pebbles and I always know when Mommy’s been there “cheating” on us, but we know she’s helping her other babies find their forever homes too.

Magnolia

I had never owned a cat before but decided to adopt Magnolia about a year and a half ago.  She came to Atlanta Pet Rescue not even a year old and pregnant.  Two of her four kittens survived and were up for adoption, but there was something about Magnolia. When I walked in to the cat room and sat down, she climbed down from from her little perch and jumped right up into my lap.  She picked me and I had no choice but to bring her home.

She was a scrawny 7 pounds but quickly settled into the lovely life of a housecat, watching the squirrels run around outside and greeting me every day at the door as I came home from work.  In fact she goes and greets everyone at the door.  Friends, family, workmen, UPS guy...everyone.

We moved to Boston about 2 months ago and I am getting married in about a week and a half.  Magnolia loves how warm and big Steve’s chest is and is so excited to have another person to cuddle with and pet her.  She is such a lovebug.

Thank you Atlanta Pet Rescue for rescuing Magnolia and thank you Lyndell and Alicia :)

We love her so much.

Scout

Thank you for rescuing Scout from his life as a feral kitten and allowing me to adopt him. He was meant to be with me.

I truly believe that after going back and forth between my house and the shelter, he now knows he is “home.” He has been purring nonstop since I brought him home and follows me everywhere. It’s hard to believe this is the same scared, kitten that used to run under the couch every time I tried to approach him.

Again, thank you! Attached are some pictures of him on his first full day at home.

Sheri B.

Josie

I just wanted to tell you that Josie, whom I adopted on August 25th, is doing very well in her new home.  She is sweet and playful and she and my other dog Mina are getting along so well.  They play together and chase each other up and down the hallway and around the yard.  They also have learned how to double team the many squirrels I have because of the oak tree in the back yard.  They really make a good team.

I have attached a picture of Josie relaxing in the sunny part of the yard after the squirrel chase with Mina.  She loves soaking up the sun in the yard.  The only thing I think she loves more are our daily walks.

Everyone who has met Josie just loves her, most of all Mina, and I have fallen in love with her also.  Thank you so much for the good work you do and for allowing me to give Josie a good and loving forever home.

Sincerely,

Brian F.

Rupert

We adopted Rupert in June and he has been a wonderful new addition to our family.

Thank you to his foster dad, James, for teaching him manners and class and to Atlanta Pet Rescue for helping us find Rupert!

Maxwell

Our 1 year anniversary is approaching, and I wanted to let you know that Maxwell is wonderful. Team Maxwell now includes a dog sitter, a doggie dermatologist and one very patient dog groomer.

Maxwell is on a one dog mission to eradicate the postal delivery system. That said, he is still a little scared of my toothless kitty.

I am very grateful to Maxwell's foster mom. It was really nice to adopt a dog that was fully housetrained.

Maxwell and I love each other very much. Thank you for rescuing him.

Stephanie G.

PS - He still "swims" through the air when I pick him up - this move always gets a big laugh at the dog park!

Scout

We live in Chapel Hill, NC.  We adopted Scout on March 27, 2008 and she has been in our home for about a year and a half.  She has our hearts totally.

Scout adores running and jumping.  We are lucky enough to have open space near our house as well as a half mile walk through the woods that no one seems to use except us!  Retreiving tennis balls is a favorite activity. We also have a neighborhood with lots of dog walkers, so she is quite known throughout the neighborhood.  Walks are much better now than the first year as she used to jump on everyone in greeting.  And boy can she jump.  When happy and excited-most of the time, she jumps up with all four paws off the ground.  She is very smart and very curious.

When she is in the house, she will sit for hours with her chin on the windowsill watching all the critters in the backyard (especially the baby rabbits!).  We now have an invisible fence (she learned to jump our wooden fence), so she has more freedom outside than she used to.  Howard has a wood shop in the garage so Scout hangs out with him in the garage with the door open to the rest of the world.  That way she can keep tabs on all the neighbors!!

Continued good luck with your incredibly important work.

Jane & Howard S.

Finn

It's been six months since we brought our little Finn home and I just wanted to let you know that he's doing great. He is such a sweet, loving, spunky little boy.

As the youngest of our pack, he has definitely taken on the quintessential "little brother" role - pestering all his older brothers, following them around, pouncing on them and barking at them. He loves carrying his favorite toy of the moment up and down the steps, wherever he goes.

We recently added another addition, a Chihuahua who was rescued from a puppy mill. Finn is his definite favorite and they are great pals.  I think Finn has really helped him during his adjustment period.

The only problem we've had with Finn is that he has figured out that with his long legs he can jump right out of his playpen! But I think we can live with that...thanks for all you do! You guys are angels!

Yvette S.

Reba (formerly Rainbow)

My parents recently adopted Rainbow. Her name has been changed to Reba and she already knows it.  She is the most loving and playful doggy and my parents are so very happy to have her.  As you can see by the pictures attached, she has made herself right at home.  She snuggles right up and rough houses with her toys.  She's terrific!!

It was a blessing that she was returned to APR and then my parents were able to adopt her.  She will have many wonderful years being spoiled by them.

Heather S.

Lucas & Lionel

Attached are a couple pics of the Siamese kittens, Lucas and Lionel.  I adopted them from Atlanta Pet Rescue in March 2009.

They are the cutest kittens ever and adopting them was the best thing I ever did.  Attached are a few pics, the first is the day I picked them up (kitties pic), and the others are of them getting cuter and cuter by the minute.  Hope you enjoy…  Thank you.

Sincerely,

Donna C.

Jack (formerly Diesel)

Jack was one of the Doodlebug Five, adopted in July 2008.  While Jack is certainly all boy, we didn't think the name "Diesel" really fit his personality, hence his new name "Jack".

Jack's mother was listed as a Shihtzu and she must have contributed to his rather distinctive tail and beautiful wavy hair.  However, we're pretty sure his father must have been a Dachshund because he has long legs and weighs around 30 pounds! We are constantly asked what kind of dog he is and we've been tempted to come up with some exotic breed name.

Jack does have a stubborn streak, but, overall, is a very sweet and loveable fellow.  He loves to wrestle with his two human brothers but also loves to cuddle on the sofa with me.  He was not hard to pottytrain (thanks to his great foster care, I'm sure) and he easily adjusted to sleeping in a crate.

I'm happy to report that Jack settled very well into our family, which includes my 85 year old mother. I know that APR was a little hesitant to place a puppy in a household where my mother would be the caretaker for most of the day, but she and Jack seemed to figure out how to make it work.  I really think Jack knew she was older and he had to treat her differently.  She became the Alpha dog in our household and Jack knew to take her seriously!

Thanks again to all the staff at APR for the wonderful work you do with your rescue animals.  The wonderful attention Jack and his siblings received really did make his transition to our family that much easier.  Thanks for giving us a great companion.

Mary Lee B.

Madison

It has been almost a year since I adopted Madison.  She is wonderful, happy and healthy!  She and my Border Collie, Max, come to work with me three times a week and the rest of the time are playing in daycamp.  They go to agility classes, are shameless about love, affection and food and are generally irresistible.

Madison is a mischievous little girl.  She flies over baby gates and will eat your dinner if you aren't looking.  All the squirrels in the neighborhood fear her as she will run right up to the 8' fence to chase them.  If I don't pay enough attention to her while at work, she will sit on my desk until I scratch her head.  With her big eyes and little kisses, she steals every human heart she meets. She is the biggest little 14 lb dog ever!

I am so grateful to Atlanta Pet Rescue for helping me to find such a beloved member of my family!

Thank you!

Candace K.

Ruby (formerly Oreo)

& Max (formerly Paddy)

I just thought you might like an update on Max and Ruby.  They are quite the couple.

Max is a rascal and the one who will always be in trouble.  He's very agile, quick to learn (he passed his first level obedience class) and lovable.

Ruby is adorable.  She's a sensitive little thing.  The only thing she like's better than cuddling on your lap is chasing chipmunks----well, maybe wrestling with Max.

Watching them in the backyard is like watching the Road Runner and the Tasmanian Devil.   They are really entertaining and so loving.

We're very glad that we adopted them.  I'm sending a photo but, it doesn't do them justice. You really need to see them in motion!  We think they're terrific!

Susan V.

Twinkle

We adopted Twinkle in January 2007 and we are still in love.  She's a wonderful girl who loves to play and enjoys lots of attention from my son and his friends.

Thank you for your diligent rescue work so that we all can enjoy the love of a wagging, curly tail :)

Karen N.

Lulu (formerly Demi)

This is a picture of Lulu that we adopted a little over a year ago.  She is now a 15-pound bundle of energy, love, and joy.

Please know that what you do makes a positive impact not only on the animals that you rescue, but on the people that adopt them as well.

Thanks for all you do.

Carl S.

Ozzy and Mindy (aka Doodle)

I adopted Ozzy 3 years ago yesterday (Aug 18). I had recently lost my little dog Jacky to age-related heart failure and was feeling pretty blue.

My husband took me to PetSmart to look at the adoptables and a kind lady told me about APR,  which she said specialized in small dog rescue.  We brought home Ozzy that day. We were a perfect match, both of us shy, lazy and loyal.

In June of this year, after losing another beloved pet ( Elliot our cat) to old age, we added Mindy to our menagerie. She is spunky & sweet & has brought out a playful side in Ozzy and our cats.

The people at APR were so helpful and kind during both adoptions. Ozzy & Mindy -- also called Doodle because her profile looks like the "Draw Me" dog from old matchbook covers -- they add much joy to our family.

Thank you APR!!!

Tracy T.

Kiefer (formerly Pepper)

We adopted Kiefer from Atlanta Pet Rescue in March. What a cutie! Not only is he a handsome puppy, but he also has a vibrant disposition.

He has brought much joy and added excitement to our lives. He is pictured here after graduating from his AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy Class. We still love his spirited personality; but welcome his improved manners. We will continue his Canine Good Citizen training in August, and probably start Agility training soon - he's a natural with all of his energy! He's such a great little guy!

Thank you so much to everybody at Atlanta Pet Rescue for keeping him safe until we found him there! He adjusted quickly to our home and has made our lives much richer.

Warmest regards,
Claudia and Bill

Spike

It has been almost 6 months since I adopted Spike and I wanted to share a few photos with you, your volunteers and anyone considering adoption.

From the first night Spike came home he has been an absolute joy.  For such a small package he has one of the largest personalities, spirits, and appetite I have ever seen.  He is mischievous (can jump the height of a baby gate, holds onto his brother Charlie Brown's tail or ears when playing...), playful (loves to play ball, tug of war, chew a good bone), and most of all sweet and loving.  Both Spike and his brother Charlie are my cuddle-bugs!  I wake often to his little soft cheek resting on mine.

Spike loves his big brother Charlie Brown and wants nothing more then to be his and everyone else's friend!  He excitedly gets in his car seat when it is time to go bye bye and is the first one to enter the kitchen at meal time!

Thank you for making it possible for me to adopt Spike.  I tell everyone that I am the luckiest person in the world for my two boys.  I hope that everyone will consider adoption... it is more then giving an animal the love and care they so deserve - it is the most generous and cherished gift you will ever receive yourself!!!

Ashley Dahlyn

Tommy and Beverly said, "Lord, when we were in the garden, you walked with us everyday.  Now we do not see you any more.  We are lonesome here, and it is difficult for us to remember how much you love us."

And God said,

"I will create a companion for you that will be with you and who will be a reflection of my love for you, so that you will love me even when you cannot see me.  Regardless of how selfish or childish or unlovable you may be, this new companion will accept you as you are and will love you as I do, in spite of yourselves."

And God created someone special to be a companion for Tommy and Beverly.
And it was a wonderful animal
And God was pleased.

And the new animal was pleased to be with Tommy and Beverly, and she wagged her tail.

And Tommy said, "'Lord, I have already had several animals, but I cannot think of a name for this new animal."

And God said, "I have created this new animal to be a reflection of my love for you, and you will call her ...

ASHLEY DAHLYN"

And ASHLEY DAHLYN lived with Tommy and Beverly and was a companion to them and loved them.

And they were comforted

And God was pleased.

And ASHLEY DAHLYN was content and the Herrington's all lived Happily Ever After!

Three years ago tonight our Ashley was waiting for us ... just like other little ones ...

We went out to Atlanta Pet Rescue to say Thank You to them for saving our little one for us ... but wonder what Ashley was thinking as she peered out the window???

She wasn't sure she wanted to be back again ...  but before she could celebrate her second homecoming with us back home ... she had to take a nap

It was really a nice party

and no better place than being HOME!

HAPPY THIRD HOMECOMING DEAR ASHLEY!!!

We have been truly blessed

by our special gift!!!

Dolly

We adopted Dolly on 7/25/09 and are so happy with her!  She is such a sweetheart!  She is the very best dog we could have asked for! She has already bonded really well with my son, Seth, and follows him around.  She is kind and sweet to all of us!

She is still getting the hang of not going potty in the house, and although she's had many successes on leash, has a few favorite spots in the house that we have to keep an eye on!  I really think with a few days of reinforcement, she'll be just fine.

She is so easy to walk on the leash, and has alerted me to an unexpected front door guest!  She'll make a good watch dog, because once I thanked her for letting me know, she went right back to her ladylike manners.

Thank you for such a great match!  We are so very happy - Lisa did a great job with us on Saturday, helping us decide on the right kind of dog!  Dolly is indeed a precious, little doll!

Sincerely,

John, Jen and Seth C.

Hank

I adopted Hank from Atlanta Pet Rescue in January of 2007 when he was a year and a half. He is the first dog I have ever owned so we both had a lot of learning to do! It took him a while to get used to the routines, but eventually he learned.

He is now four years old and he is great!  He loves people, and he especially loves children. He gets along very nicely with other dogs but has no idea how big he is! He is only 14 lbs but would be happy to play with all the huge dogs at Piedmont Park if they let him! You were not kidding when you said he had a lot of energy, and I think he will always love to play "fetch."

Since I first got him he has mellowed out a lot and is quite content to sit on the top of my couch like a cat during the day and relax! Hank is excellent company and I am so happy to have him in my life.

Thank you so much for rescuing him and for giving me the opportunity to provide him with a good home!

Jenna

It's me, Jenna, again!

Can you believe it has been three whole years since I was adopted??   I am still one happy girl.    I never think about the those sad, hungry days before you guys took me in and found me a new mom who loves me.

I love to chase rabbits and squirrels in my yard.   We love lots and lots of both.  Sometimes I get so excited that I forget that I'm a dog and can't climb trees like my squirrels pals.   I'll run so fast that I will try to chase a squirrel half way up a tree then fall down on my back.    I've gotten the breath knocked out of me a few times, but its fun!

Mom and I go to Agility Class at MerryMac.  My favorite apparatus are the tunnel and the jumps.   I just learned how to do the teeter-totter and the closed tunnel.   The teeter-totter was a little scary at first, but after the first couple tries I got the hang of it.    The closed tunnel is easy and super fun!

Here are a couple of my pictures.  I was a Georgia Tech Yellow Jacket for Halloween. Boy, my Uncle Bobby really liked that!  The other one is a picture a man at the doggy park took of me.

Pixie

We adopted Pixie in June of 2008 and she has found a place in our hearts.  The day we left for the animal shelter I had a feeling that we were going to find the right one.  I had been wanting a puppy my whole life.

When we got to the shelter something drew me to the little puppy curled up in the corner, wrapped in a big fuzzy blanket.

When we brought Pixie home all she wanted to do was curl up in my lap, but in a couple weeks she was up and running around chasing her ball.

Pixie was also a quick learner. She learned "sit" within a week!  She had all the characteristics I wanted in a dog.

I am very grateful to have Pixie.  She is truly my best friend.  She has a heart of gold and no dog could ever replace her.
