Scarlet & KatDear Atlanta Pet Rescue – I wanted to give you an update on one of your dogs and ask for some love, prayers and support to be sent her way.

My daughter adopted Scarlet in June and she has been the most loving, wonderful addition to our family.  Katherine and Scarlet participated in the Botanical Gardens Reindeer Dog Parade and won first place for the dress-a-like category. J  She’s a very special dog!

We just returned from vacation last Tuesday and learned that Scarlet had disc disease and that one of her discs had ruptured.  She needed emergency surgery and was paralyzed at the time of surgery.  After the surgery, based on the amount of inflammation on the spinal cord, they were very concerned whether she would recover or not.  When she awoke from surgery, they were shocked that she had feeling back in her legs!  They call her the miracle dog.

We are on day 6 post surgery and Scarlet is doing wonderful.  She wagged her tail on Saturday, moved one of her legs yesterday and tried to push herself up with her hind legs today.  So, we are very encouraged that she will be able to walk again.

Please share with the crew at Atlanta Pet Rescue.  Everyone who comes into contact with her just loves her and right now she could use all the love, prayers and support she can get!

Thank you ~ Deb P.

    Dear Katherine,

We are writing to wish Scarlet a speedy recovery and to let you know that we are thinking of and praying for her. I (the mom) also want you to know that our little Scooter (adopted from APR in 2008) had surgery for the same problem two months ago and is doing great. He was also paralyzed before the surgery and just like Scarlet, started to show progress soon after he came home; he is now back to his normal self. So, your sweet little Scarlet will be just fine and with all the love and care that you are giving her, she will soon be jumping up to give you kisses and to receive even more. So, take good care of yourself and don’t worry; Scarlet needs you to be strong and happy so you can take care of her.

We wish Scarlet perfect health soon and Scooter sends special love to Scarlet.

Thank you both so much for your posts! It was very encouraging to hear about Scooter and I am a believer in the power of prayer! I am happy to report that Scarlet started walking last Friday and has been making progress everyday! Thank you, thank you, thank you!
