Freckles & Eamon

FrecklesWe had recently moved to the Atlanta area and my son was having a difficult time adjusting to his new surroundings and missing his friends “back home”. Eamon was 7-years old and needed a new friend.

We saw a picture of Freckles on your website and knew immediately we needed to
come introduce ourselves to her.  When my son saw Freckles…it was love at first sight.  Unfortunately another family was ahead of us…and they were very interested in taking Freckles home with them. Eamon was nearly devastated.

I don’t know what it was…but for some reason the people from Atlanta Pet Rescue recognized that Freckles seemed to be a better “fit” with us.  We brought her home with us…and she has been an amazing addition to our family.  She even moved her to France with us for a few years…so she can bark in French now!!

What prompted this letter…and these memories…is that my son turned 18 this
week and in the fall he will be moving to Athens, GA to attend school at UGA.   I’m not sure what Freckles will do with Eamon gone.  She sleeps in his room and refuses to enter his room on those occasions Eamon is away…she sleeps on the floor outside his door…waiting for his return.  I think she is going to be like me…we will be missing our best friend.

I’ve attached a couple of photos.  Eamon on his birthday with Freckles
from April 2003 and again in 2013.  They’ve been a great team…thank you
Atlanta Pet Rescue for recognizing that Freckles was “our dog”.  ~ Regards, Kevin G.

This may sound really silly, but I think it will be really important to have Eamon leave something that smells like him for Freckles to snuggle with when Eamon is away at college. (An unwashed t-shirt or pillowcase, etc.) Dogs find the scents of their humans very reassuring.

    Really a sweet Happy Tale.
Eamon can send dirty cloths home to be washed after Freckles inspects them :)

This really is a very nice Happy Tails, maybe one of my favorites. I love the pictures of Eamon and Freckles in the younger years but the 2013 where Freckles is giving him a big kiss warms my heart.

What a wonderful story! Thank you so much for taking the time to share it — and the pictures.
