Lola (formerly Paloma)

LolabeanAlmost one year ago, I went to APRA to find a companion for Oliver, my 8 year old Toy Fox Terrier. After several visits and meeting several dogs, I came upon a tiny, reserved Chihuahua that would change my household forever. I brought her home and our story began.

We had a few bumps in the beginning – not even 2 weeks after bringing Lola home, the lymph nodes in her tiny neck began to swell. The vet thought she might have cancer. I was devastated, but thankfully, it ended up just being a very bad infection. And once my baby girl was all better, her true personality come out! Lola has completely taken over my house with her spunk and tiny bark (which always makes people in the neighborhood laugh during our walks)! She respects Oliver, but she certainly isn’t afraid to tell him how she feels! Occasionally I’ll see a black and white streak followed by a smaller black and brown streak race past me as she chases him throughout my apartment. It seems she can’t get enough of him, as evidenced by the pictures. Because Oliver was so used to being “the only child,” it took him a while to accept that Lola was here to stay, but he has never once shown any signs of aggression toward her and doesn’t mind allowing his “baby sister” to lay on him (which she does often).

I didn’t think I could ever love a dog as much as I love Oliver, but I can no longer see my life without Lola either. She’s a perfect fit and I hope she’s as happy with me as I am with her. Thank you so much, APRA, for this addition to my family. ~ Courtney G.

I’m so happy my little foster found a loving home. She’s such a little snuggle bug. Big hugs to Lola.
