Sneakers and Fritz

A year ago, we saw a picture of a small, frail dog on your website named Sneakers. We told you his happy tale already, but it gets even better! After Sneakers got healthy and became happy and acclimated to our home, we decided he needed a friend. (Actually,  we could not stop looking at all the cute dogs on your website!)

So, we visited with Sneakers and met Fritz, a quiet, patient fellow who was found by Atlanta police wandering around. He was underweight and he leg was hurt. He had a bad eye infection, too. While some of the other dogs sought immediate attention,  Fritz was just waiting in the corner of the pen for the right family to come along. When Sneakers arrived, he came over and licked my hand. He seemed to like Sneakers and Sneakers liked him.

Today, Fritz, who we have named Leo, and Sneakers are best friends. They play tug together and take walks around the lake, find toys and initiate play with us and show genuine concern for each other. Leo, who is now very healthy, likes to sleep on a little stuffed dog–who he hugs while he sleeps!

We are so happy we found Leo snd Sneakers at APR. Becoming a two-dog family has brought us twice the joy!

Sneakers is on the left, Leo on the right. The stuffed dog Leo sleeps with (we call it Beth) is in the middle.

I agree with Ursula in that I get so much joy from reading the updates on how “our” dogs are doing. And you are right that many of the shyer dogs are just waiting for the right family, and it’s heartwarming to see them suddenly come alive when “their” family walks in the door. I don’t know how they know it, but they most definitely do. It sounds like you all have a lot to be thankful for this season. And by the way, they both look great! Thank you for being such wonderful parents.
