photo (2)We are celebrating a birthday in our house tonight. Two years ago today, we adopted Hudson (“Mitchell” was his name while staying with you all at your facility). Our lives have been much, much brighter ever since. Hudson is not only our a part of our family at home, but he is also comes to work and is our proud office dog. In the two years we’ve had him, he grew a little bit, started eating sensitive stomach food, had a tooth pulled, loves going on hikes outdoors whenever possible, hangs out with his friends at Piedmont Bark, started vocalizing more and gets mohawks in the Summer. We can’t imagine life without him and are so thankful for all of the work that you all do over there.

Rainey5Rainey has become such a joy to have in my life.  She became much more active and playful in the weeks after I adopted her.  We play, go for walks/runs as often as possible.  From the moment she walked in the door, she knew she was home.  There were a few piddle accidents the first couple of days, but she’s very much already housebroken.  She has a vendetta against squeaky toys.  So far a Peep, a shark, and a Care Bear can be counted amongst her victims. But she seems happy with me and I couldn’t be happier with my little Rainey Daie!

Thank you, APRA!

image1I adopted Moxey from you in 2007. She was a tiny thing and only four months old. From the very first day, she became the love of my life! Moxey is half Chihuahua and half Cairn Terrier and all precious. She is very happy and very smart. A little over a year ago, my mother passed and I brought her 4 year old Chihuahua, Bella, home. Moxey hadn’t cared much for Bella, but when she came to live with us, I believe Moxey recognized Bella’s despair and quickly became her big sister.

It’s been a long time, but I wanted to give a big shout out and thank you for what you do to rescue and provide loving homes for these dogs in need.

It has truly changed my life and we are one happy family!

Here is a picture of Moxey (with the cute little beard) and Bella…

Patches BearIt’s been almost 4 weeks since we picked up our handsome Christmas angel from APRA; and he has come along really well.  Clarence is a sweet & smart dog.  He already knew the ‘sit’ command when we got him. He obeys ‘stay’ and ‘walk’, has gotten the hang of things with going potty outside and using the pee pad if we are not home.  Shortly after he came home with us, we experienced some serious cold and then a significant number of rainy days.  His first couple of times out in the rain were hilarious as he was quite curious about raindrops.   But, he does quite well walking on the leash and is getting more comfortable with  the sights and sounds of city life.

He will be 12 weeks old this week.  The vet (Inman Park Animal Hospital) is pleased with his progress. Read »

colbyI adopted Colby on 12/13/2014. His first week home we discovered that he is housebroken, sleeps well in his crate overnight, and eats his food exactly when we put it out. He is all boy for sure! He loves to hide his bones around the house and chews up any type of stuffed toy that we present him. He doesn’t love getting a bath or getting his teeth brushed. We have found that the vacuum cleaner is his enemy and he goes to battle with it every time we clean. He adapts pretty well to being around large groups of people. He had a bout of kennel cough his first week home so we have not had him around other dogs yet. He loves to go on walks and walks well on a leash. We are just loving discovering his fun personality!

Rolf is wonderful. He has been adjusting very well to life with Nick and myself, though we are going to be working with him to resist the temptation to chase the cats. In terms of house-training Rolf was essentially trained already as soon as he laid paw in our living room; aside from a couple minor markings on the first day he has been waiting politely and letting us know he needs to go out. RolfRolf2

charity charity2 (640x480)

Thank you for checking in on Charity. As you can see from the pictures, she is doing fantastic. She is such a sweetheart and very trainable. She has adapted incredibly well to the family and we love her. If you look closely at the third picture, all three dogs are sleeping very close together on the couch.

Thank you so much for what you do for these amazing animals/family members.

KikiHi! I’m Kiki. I used to hang around at APRA until about two years ago when I met a family that took me home with them. First, I had to convince them that I could get along with their dog, Zoie, a spoiled little Brussels Griffin who had been an only dog for over a year. Zoie is a very tolerant dog so I had no trouble convincing her I’d be a great house mate. So off we went.

I must apologize to my foster mom for telling her that I didn’t like men, at least not all men. By the end of our first day together, I curled up in my new dad’s lap and he seemed pretty happy about that. And I get back in that lap every chance I get.

I’ve learned during the last two years that I have it pretty good. I’m well fed, get lots of treats and belly rubs, sleep in the big bed with Zoie Read »

colbyThank you Atlanta pet adoption and rescue for Colby!  He is the perfect addition to our family. We have had him for about three weeks now and are starting to see his personality. He loves toys, treats, and going for walks. He sleeps well in his crate overnight but does cry if he gets bored. I was happy to discover that he is housebroken and has had few accidents in the house. Thanks again for allowing us to adopt him!
